[daip] quick question

Hi all,

Just a quick question - more to refresh my own memory since I'm probably just 
remembering something wrong.

I have a directory of local AIPS programs which resides in the directory
/data/chile/perlman/AIPS/JPLAIPS.

To use those programs I should do the following, right?

(before starting AIPS) setenv JPLAIPS /data/chile/perlman/AIPS/JPLAIPS

(within AIPS) version='jplaips'

The reason I ask is that I've done this and got the following result:

DANEEL>setenv JPLAIPS /data/chile/perlman/AIPS/JPLAIPS 
DANEEL>printenv JPLAIPS
/data/chile/perlman/AIPS/JPLAIPS                 
...
(Clipped AIPS startup messages)
>version='jplaips' 
>inp aifit
AIPS 1: TEXT FOR AIFIT UNAVAILABLE       

(AIFIT is one of the programs in JPLAIPS)

Can you tell me what obvious thing I am not doing?  I know it's something 
really stupid.
