Bill,

The problem is not in the FITLD. Actually there is no any problem.

You have 512 ifsxnpolxnfreq. The 512 requires to make the correlation 
in two passes. That was done by our analysts to correlate your project.
At the first pass you get the first two IFs; at the second pass 
you get the last two IFs. In both passes you have four (not eight) channels-
2IFsx2pol.

Therefore you have to 
  1. load (FITLD) the first pass of the correlation
  2. load (FITLD) the second pass of the correlation
  3. glue the two UV data using the aips task VBGLU

Hi.

   I'm having trouble loading VLBA program BJ041 with FITLD.  This is an
512-8-2 project --- 4 IFs, each of RR and LL at 86 GHz.  FITLD runs
through this apperently o.k. and writes a disk database with

   Complex  1
   Stokes   1
   Freq    64
   IF       4

FXPOL ought to repair this if "Stokes=1" and "IF=8" but, as the database
is configured currently on disk I get "Stokes=2" and "IF=2" after running
FXPOL.

I have tried a few tricks to get this database on the disk in the correct
form --- for instance, loading 1 IF at a time but this always just gives
me 1 polarization.

I will be able to look at this over the Christmas break but I could use
some pointers, if you have any.

I'm running 31DEC02 but not with a MNJ.  This FITLD version is current
judging by the change logs.
