[daip] AIPS TV on 16-bit X Windows

The problem is that the 16-bit TrueColor visual allows only 5 bits per
color. Since 0 is reserved for blanked pixels this means only 31
possible values. It is my belief that one cannot do science with such
course intensity scales. But, if I code XAS to handle 16-bit, then
many users would never realize that they should be doing better and
would simply blame AIPS for the coarse intensities. This way, we
force people to use either 8-bit pseudo-color or 24/32-bit TrueColor.

There will be a driver for your machine in short order I expect for at
least one of these 2. Yours is the first claim I have heard that
there is only 16-bit available. It is always the default that Linux
boxes come with, but all others have been able to invoke other
visuals.
