SMOOTH is applied to the data as they are first read from the input
data file and copied to the .IMAGR. work file.  In that sense, it is
one of the calibration adverbs like DOCAL, DOBAND, etc.  The images
and Clean cycles are then made with the .IMAGR. file and the original
data file is thereafter ignored.  Thus the CCs are applied to the data
that produced them, not to some data at a prior stage.
