This is a large data set (1.67 Gbytes) and I can imagine that a
straight sort will be expensive.  Have you checked that the data are
in fact out of time order (they will be if this is space VLB with
different integration times for the Halca data and the ground data). 
If the data are not space VLB then a UVCOP with application of the
incoming flag table may get rid of all problems.
