I disagree about the registrations - they do reveal more even if they
are a too small fraction.  Sites often fetch just the source code and
then build it on n Solaris, m Linux, etc.  In the past n >> m, but now
n < m (at least) which the registrations revealed.  We have run the
country statistics in the Aipsletter sometimes but I agree that they
are less significant (although amusing).
