[daip] GETJY

Hi Jessica,

Another possible source of your problem is if you have
your flux calibrator and 0024-420 in separate SN tables,
and then you don't have the proper entry for SNVER when
you run GETJY.

What I usually do is run CALIB or VLACALIB on the flux
calibrator to put it in SN table 1. Then I use
TACOP to copy SN 1 to SN 2. Then I run CALIB or VLACALIB
on the phase calibrator (0024-420 in your case), forcing
the output to SN table 2. Then I run GETJY invoking
SN table 2.

There are two advantages to this--one is that the two
calibrators are in the same SN table, so I can plot or
list the results together. The other is that if I
mess something up on the phase calibrator, or find
some data that need flagging, I can delete SN 2,
do the appropriate flagging, copy SN 1 to SN 2 again,
and run CALIB/VLACALIB again. This way I don't have
to re-run things on the flux calibrator.

Note that if you get a flux value for your calibrator
with GETJY, then later decide to go back and do some
flagging or run CALIB again for some other reason, you
should use SETJY with optype='rejy' to reset the flux
of your phase calibrator (0024-420) to zero before
re-running CALIB and GETJY.

Hope this helps. I gave a more complete description than
Leonia, because I have a sense of mild confusion that
might be helped by more discussion!

Best,

Jim Ulvestad
