Probably you can not save the total time of computer.
But you can save your time sitting near computer.

Prepare all input parameters of FITTP but INNAME, INCLASS, OUTFILE
Type the following cycle in aips:

> for i=n1 to n2; getn i; outfile='out i'; go fittp; wait fittp; end

It will work if your aips data are in consequtive order fronm n1 to n2;
Probably it is your case;

Try it with 2 files at the beginning.

Hi!

A quick question regarding the most efficient way to write out a very large
number of aips files to disk as fits files. Task 'fittp' will only write
out one file at a time to disk, and I need to write out on the order of
500!

Please help -- I have a rather urgent need to get this done asap. The files
are on a remote machine, and I can't write them out to exabyte tape.

Many thanks,

Grace Wolf-Chase
