1. What is your hostname? Does "uname -n" produce a simple hostname like
"orangutan" or a fully qualified name like "orangutan.cv.nrao.edu"?
2. Assume your hostname is "mycpu", is there a DA00/MYCPU/ directory
under your AIPS_ROOT area? If not, please create it. Watch out in
case there's a MYCPU.PHYS.UVIC.CA directory instead; this could be the
    problem.
3. If you create or rename the directory, also create an empty file in
there (use the unix "touch" command) called SPACE.
4. Make sure you have write access to the area.

You can either re-run the wizard, or follow its instructions:

I.e.:

    cd /home/aips (or wherever)
    . ./LOGIN.SH (or if you use csh/tcsh, "source LOGIN.CSH")
    $CDTST (should say "AIPS_VERSION=/home/aips/31DEC99")
RUN FILAIP (it will ask you for three lines of input:)
      35 -100
      8 2
      8
(at this point it should tell you to run POPSGN)
RUN POPSGN (it will ask for some stuff, enter this EXACTLY:)
0 POPSDAT TST (and when you see ">", press RETURN again)

This will get you past that stage.
