After 48 1/3 hours of natural, *drug-free* labor, Adrienne gave birth to
a baby girl, Maia Willow Uphoff, at the Community Hospital of Los Gatos,
California, on Wednesday, October 11th, 2000, at 3:49am (PDT).

Maia arrived weighing 7 pounds, 10 ounces (most of which appears to be
head!) and measuring 20 inches long.

Though Maia was born in a hospital, 47 1/2 hours of the labor were done
at home and attended to by a licensed midwife, Veronica Falcao; anyone
interested in further details of the birth--especially those having to
do with home birth and midwifery--should feel free to drop us an e-mail.

Everyone is now home and doing fine, though, needless to say, Adrienne
is just a tad worn out. <grin>
