Hi:
Working with KRING on two similar datasets, I get this warning that I'm
unable to make sense of:
AIPS version: 31DEC99, last updated 9 May 2000.
> Dataset: 8 IFs, 16 channels/IF, Stokes RR only, IF 5 flagged.
> KRING:
> refant 5; solmode 'NRD'; cparm 0, 600, 60, 5, 0; solint 0;
> docalib 1; gainuse 0; flagver 1; calsource set.
ella > KRING1: Found 639 good and 81 bad solutions
(* The 81 bad solutions are probably due to no data on IF 5
However, I'm not sure what is being counted:
I have 10 ants, 8 IFs (1 flagged) and 8 scans (120 sec each)
on the source, so I expected 560 good, 80 bad;
or maybe 570 good, 70 bad.*)

ella > KRING1: Some solutions were not adjusted to the common

ella > KRING1: antennas were not used. Check your data before
ella > KRING1: proceeding.
ella > KRING1: Appears to have ended successfully
Both datasets produce this warning for antenna 1 when using refant=5;
though the final solutions look very similar when overplotted with those
from FRING.
On my current dataset, refant=9 produces the same warning for antenna 1;
while setting refant=1 does not say anything about adjusting to a common
antenna at all. (Bizzare! Is there a hardwired internal refant=1?)
ella > KRING1: Found 639 good and 81 bad solutions
ella > KRING1: Appears to have ended successfully
I believe the warning is spurious: it would be good to get some kind of
confirmation on this, and even better if I could make the warning go
away...
Thanks, and I apologize for the bother.
Shami
