I have never done it myself but:

I think you are right, you need using TABED to change the source name
in SU table.

After that I'd run LISTR (OPTYPE ='SCAN') to see the change and/or
PRTAB to print the modifyed SU table.

 - I have some WSRT data that has a single source
in each multi source data base .  These are eg 3C273 HI  zero 
km/s , the in the next multi is 3C273 HI high freq shifted and
then in the following 3C273 low freq shifted etc.

I need to change the names to eg 3C273_on , 3C273_hi , etc.

Do I use TABED for this ?
