Pat Murphy can probably give you a better answer.  But if you look at
$UPDUNIX/UPDCONFIG you will see several sites set up as you intend.

For example MPI at Bonn uses hp177 an HP2 to do the mnj from CV.  Then
hp62, sun167 (?) and pc005 run secondary jobs using the same source
code tree.  They copy the transaction files from the master (this case
hp177) and
