She should probably first try fitting while forcing the 
components to be circular. This will help refine other parameters
such as position and flux.  Then she can 'unloose' the axial ratio and
position angle to see if there is any non-circularity there.
Unless her data is fairly simple in each channel, she should stick to
images and JMFIT, etc.
