experience in using and programming in AIPS. We are particularly
interested in applicants with VLBI experience. The initial appointment
will be for a period of three years, with the possibility of extension and
eventually a permanent appointment, including tenure. A postdoctoral

NRAO scientific staff are expected to maintain a vigorous program of
individual independent research as well as contributing to the operation
and future development of the Observatory as a national facility. The new
appointee will provide technical and scientific support for the VLA and
VLBA, including advising and assisting scientists using the AIPS package,
as well as developing, testing and using new hardware and software.

Applications should be sent to the Director's Office, NRAO, 520 Edgemont
Road, Charlottesville, VA 22903-2475 and should include: a letter with a
description of research interests and plans, a curriculum vitae, and the
names of three scientists who have been asked to send letters of reference
directly to the NRAO. All application materials and supporting letters
received at the above address by October 1, 2000 will receive full
consideration. Potential applicants may obtain further information about
the NRAO and opportunities on the scientific staff from our web site or
may contact Dr. Miller Goss (505-835-7300).
