Two things that I was suppose to do right after the last telecon:

1) Travel for October meetings

If you haven't already done so, you all need to make your travel
arrangements for October. I am told that flights may be quite full. I
just had a nightmare trying to get back from the UK myself so please get
moving on this. Remember that you need to get the appropriate admin
person for your region to get the international tickets for you. That
would presumably be the same person who arranges for you to go to ESAC,
EASAC or ANASAC meetings.

For the ASAC meeting itself you really need to be here in Santiago by
the afternoon of the 12th Oct at the latest so we can start at 9am on
the 13th. Remember that the meeting will be in the new ALMA office in
Vitacura and we have made a block booking at the Director Hotel which is
near there. If we can get the meeting finished by about 4pm on the 14th
then it would be possible to book flights out leaving from about 7pm
that evening if you are anxious to get home.

If you want to visit the site before hand, then it would be possible
(but tiring) to fly in to Santiago on the morning of the 11th, go up to
the site on the afternoon of the 11th, visit that evening and on the
morning of the 12th and come back to Santiago that evening. The more
relaxed approach would be to get to Santiago on the 10th. Several of
you will be coming earlier for the preceding meetings anyway, see below.

In general it would be best if you can get your tickets for flying to
and from San Pedro at the same time as you get your international
tickets - that saves money and effort. Remember however that the
shuttle to the site meets only the LA 142 (morning) and LA 154
(afternoon) flights going up and gets you there in time for LA 143 and
LA 155 coming down. I suggest you take account of jet lag in making
these bookings - e.g. it you are coming from Europe you will be sleepy
in the evenings and awake early in the morning.

So please let Claudia Reyes know as soon as possible what you plan to do
- in particular what flights you expect to be on. She will then take
care of the local arrangements - e.g. accommodation in Santiago and so on.

Please also include you nationality and passport numbers in your message
- we need them to get things reserved here.

2) The lists of "liaison" people sent to me are:

Commissioning : Nario Kuno, Doug Johnstone, Jesus Martin-Pintado.
Meeting 8/9 Oct AT THE OSF
Operations : Toshikazu Onishi, Andrew Baker, Frédéric Gueth.
Meeting 11/12 Oct IN SANTIAGO
ARCs : Munetake Momose, Kelsey Johnson, Linda Tacconi

Best Richard

p.s. 6 antennas on the high site as of today. No picture of that yet so
here is one taken from the centre of Santiago yesterday instead.
It isn't always smoggy here!
