The following is ALMA-J update. 1. NAOJ internal review of ALMA Construction and Operation (ALMA-J Project review part-II) We had one-day internal review meeting for reviewing ALMA-J construction project and ALMA operations plan (version B) by inviting two external reviewers from universities. The meeting was chaired by NAOJ deputy director who are in charge of NAOJ budgeting and the discussions were focused on ALMA-J budget and staffing plans during and after construction. The delta review will be held on Oct. 11th for discussing more about the budget plan. Some of the discussions will be fed back to ALMA Board and ops working group. 2. Internal Pre-CDR Meeting of ACA Correlator We had two-days meeting for the review of ACA correlator at NAOJ with Fujitsu group on Oct. 3-4. This was projected as one of preparation meetings for ACA Correlator CDR which will be held on Dec. The current design of ACA correlator, proto-type testing plan, thermal analysis report, acceptance plan, operation and maintenance plan etc were reviewed. The designing and planning by ACA correlator team and Fujitsu seemed to be generally going well. We identified several technical and managerial issues which should be clarified and resolved before CDR. 3. Hiring of ALMA-J & Taiwan CSV scientists and EA-ARC scientist We will hire the following three staff in NAOJ and ASIAA, and are searching for candidates. Applications from NA or EU are welcome as well as form Asia. Please encourage persons who will be interested in the positions to contact me for NAOJ positions and Nagayoshi Ohashi for ASIAA position (I will send you job advertisements for these soon) . - ALMA-J CSV scientist (NAOJ position) - Taiwan CSV scientist (ASIAA position) - EA-ARC scientist (NAOJ position) 4. CSV Plan R. Laing and B. Vila Vilaro co-author CSV plan based on the draft plan by R. Laing. Baltasar is mainly developing ACA part. CSV f2f meeting is planed on Oct. 11-12 (Garching) after WVR conference at Wettzel for further discussions on CSV plan. 5. External Review of Combined Array Docs. We started the external review of several combined array documents once, but stopped the review due to the bug report of GILDAS by J. Pety. Recently, we re-performed the simulation using bug-fixed GILDAS and could confirmed that our previous simulation results on the combined array seem to be not affected by the bug. We will revise the docs according to the new results and discussion with ASAC and re-start the review process soon. 6. ACA Calibration B. Vila Vilaro has written several ACA Calibration Example documents that are currently under Internal Review. They cover those aspects of the ACA Calibration that are not covered by the standard ALMA Calibration Examples created by the Calibration Group Members. Once reviewed, the documents will be handed to the Calibration Group for comments.
