In stead of me, Baltasar will report on ALMA-J issues. I also apologize for not being present as a JAO acting project scientist. The Observatory is located on a hill just outside the city, all hotels are located midway or at the bottom of the hill. In decent weather conditions, it may be a pleasant walk to hike up the hill (10 to 20 min uphill, depending on the hotel location), obviously a cab or rental car is a viable option there are no parking or access restrictions. - The Florence Airport (FLR) is open again, after a few months of forced shutdown to allow renewal of the runway. the most convenient option is to fly to a large continental Euro HUB (Paris, Frankfurt/Munich) and then to Florence. Alternatives could be to fly to Pisa or Bologna and then catch a train to Florence, this is a viable option from many european destinations. Unless you have a good reason to do it, I would avoid flying to Milan/Rome and then try to reach Florence. From Florence airport to the Hotel or the Observatory the most convenient option is a cab (unless you plan to rent a car). - I need an approximate head count to block a set of rooms at the nearby Hotels, you will then have to reserve individually with your credit card. Earlier this week, concrete was poured at the Vertex antenna laydown area for the first antenna foundation. Many others will follow and within a year these foundations will begin to sprout the antennas from which ALMA science will eventually blossom. Please recircle the telecon date on your calendar.
