Dear ASAC members,

As you may be aware the ALMA Science IPT has been working on creating
an updated version of the Design Reference Science Plan (DRSP). This
so-called DRSP2.0 reflects the increased capabilities of ALMA since
the original DRSP (bands 4,5,8 and ACA), as well as evolving science
questions. The original DRSP contained 128 projects; DRSP 2.0 contains
70 new or upgraded projects, and a similar number of projects that
remain valid as-is.

Although not all promised or expected updated projects have been
received, I am already starting to put together a group of people who
can review the updated projects. As was the procedure for the original
DRSP, I am now asking the ASAC members to review a few projects in
their respective areas of expertise. If most of us sign up, we each
only have to review 6-7 projects.

Can you let me know, preferably before JANUARY 5 if you would be
willing to review 6-7 projects?

I am aware that these reviews are a considerable task, but would like
to stress that they are essential for the value of the DRSP. Numerous
decisions affecting the performance of ALMA are in part based on the
effects they have on the DRSP projects (so as to quantify the effect
on the actual science that ALMA will carry out), so it is vital that
the DRSP is correct and as broad as possible.

More details about the review process will follow later. The DRSP
projects to review will be posted on the web, and feedback to the
authors can be simply e-mailed to me. The review should loosely focus
on the following questions: does the project use ALMA's full
potential?, are the observing setup and time estimates correct?, does
the science reflect a sufficiently wide problem in the respective
astronomical field, or does it showcase a particular aspect where ALMA
can make a unique contribution?

With kind regards and wishing you happy holidays,
