Dear ASAC member or meeting attendee:
NRAO-Socorro has kindly offered to handle the logistics for visits to
the ASAC face-to-face meeting 6-9 September. This is a blanket email;
please ignore it if you do not plan to attend the meeting. Invited
speakers should have received an invitational email.
General information on the NRAO Array Operations Center in Socorro may be
found at:
http://www.aoc.nrao.edu/AOC/

The AOC is located about an hour's drive south of the Albuquerque airport,
to which you may most conveniently book your flights. We will visit the
ALMA Test Facility (ATF)/VLA site after lunch, leaving the AOC at 1pm on
Friday, 6 September. It takes about one hour to reach the ALMA Test
Facility site. After inspecting the antenna for a few hours, we plan to
return, leaving the ATF site about 4pm.
But how to get from Albuquerque to Socorro? There are three options.
Car rental is one option, of course. There is a taxi service, the details
of which we will cover later. We can
arrange a van if it should happen that a sufficient number of people arrive at
a similar time. I'm not sure how to orchestrate that however! I thought that
mentioning this as a possibility for e.g. 8 pm Thursday night and/or
for 11 am Friday morning, and the same for 7am Monday morning might provoke
responses to enlighten me as to the times people might arrive or leave.
Directions for reaching Socorro by car can be found at:
http://www.aoc.nrao.edu/~gtaylor/abqtosoc.html
The meeting is scheduled to run all day Saturday and Sunday. No events are
currently scheduled for Monday. An updated agenda will be posted shortly
with some minor changes; the current version may be found at:

When you have made your travel arrangements, please fill out the visitor
information URL page and submit it. In general, you will probably only
need to fill out section A. Please let us know whether or not you intend
to visit the ATF in the comments section on the form. You will receive a
response from the AOC travel coordinator.
Clear skies,
Al
