Here is the report from Dan Mertely's shielded chamber testing of the
new API front end Low Noise Block Downcoverters (LNBs), where the
10750MHz LO originates. The recommended shielding gaskets have been
installed, and these were shown to suppress the and 2687.5MHz and
5375MHz LO subharmonics to within acceptable levels. The 10750MHz LO
was not found to radiate, with or without the shielding gaskets.
The "old" API system uses the same 1st LO frequency, 10750MHz, but it is
synthesized by a different mechanism, and housed in a different kind of
enclosure. This is what is believed to be the source of the interferor
that Rick has reported. When the old API system is decommissioned, this
interfering signal will go away.
