Hi Adam,
I'd be interested in joining the DiFX users meeting, but I won't attend
in person in this location. Online would be an interesting option.
Cheers,
Frederic

<pre wrap="" class="moz-quote-pre">Hi DiFX users,
It has been quite some time since the last release but we are now very
close to finalising and releasing DiFX 2.9.0. Shaoguang Guo is
presently visiting me at Swinburne and we are putting in an effort
over this week to finalise all the change logs, harmonising the 2.9
alpha branch with main, and plan to tag the release as soon as that is
done (in the next week or so). To the best of our knowledge all
relevant?testing has been completed, so if anyone is still running
tests on the 2.9.0a branch and wants to hold the release until that is
completed, please let me know.? Going forward we will try to return to
a ~6 monthly update cycle, as it was quite a long time between major
releases this time around.
I will be starting a few discussions on the DiFX github repo related
to benchmarking and release processes, so please follow the repo at
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://github.com/difx/difx">https://github.com/difx/difx</a> if you want to stay up to date with those
discussions. One of those will be regarding benchmarking, as there is
renewed interest in having some up-to-date performance benchmarks of
single-server performance to compare recent CPU models.
The other question for the user group regards a workshop for 2025. At
this point, although we'd explored some options, no location or date
had been set for a DiFX users and developers meeting, and 2025 is
rapidly running out of road! Shaoguang has raised the possibility of
hosting a meeting in Shanghai in November 2025 - *can I please ask
that you respond if you are 1) interested and likely able to attend
this location and time, or 2) interested in attending a
users/developers workshop but would be unable to make that location or
time.*
Thanks, and stay tuned for a 2.9.0 release announcement soon!
Cheers,
Adam
