The OS that computed 31DEC25 is actually 15.7 and, for 31DEC26, will be updated to 26.x later this year. I assume you mean that you tried this June 15, 2026. The printer type A is letter, A4 is European. AIPS was born in the era of magnetic tapes and can still handle them. If you have none (like most people these days), just go on.</div><div>Now to serious questions: 1. The rsync to download AIPS should produce a very large number of messages 1/file. Check if you actually downloaded anything. cd $AIPS_ROOT/31DEC25/APL/SUB and do an ls. There should be > 500 .FOR files. 2. Edit the $AIPS_ROOT/DA00/DADEVS.LIST. Each data area you will use is listed. If column 1 contains a - sign then the directory name must contain the string you see if you “echo $HOST”. If column 1 cointains a + that is not necessary and the data area will be used by all computers using this installation. The 2nd and 3rd columns of each row must be blank with the directory path starting in column 4. 3. cd to each of your data areas and “touch SPACE” to create the 0-byte file used by AIPS to determine the validity of the data area and to help in file creation. Be sure at least user and group have permission to write this file. 4. Don’t wait so long before asking for help. We are available.</div><div><div class="dp-signature-start">Eric Greisen</div>
