<div>Hello,</div><div><br></div><div>I noticed that the gain amplitude to Pie Town was systematically low in some geodetic observations I had recently (0136_PTbad.ps -- flux density on baselines to FD, notice PT is a factor of 10 or so lower than all others; can also see this in presc_0136.ps). I can correct these gain errors with self-calibration, which leads to large scatter in the recovered flux densities on baselines to PT (postsc_0136.ps; I don't think this significantly affects the end result, which is to determine residual delay and clock errors with DELZN), and find corrective factors of around 10, as expected (postsc_ampgains.ps -- see PT relative to all other antennas).</div><div><br></div><div>My question is: how do I apply a generic corrective factor to the gain amplitudes for all other times/sources without self-calibrating each of them? The PT Tsys and GC table values seem fine relative to other antennas, so I'm not sure even which antenna-based variable needs to be corrected.</div><div><br></div><div>This seems to be relevant, since fringe fitting to all of the geodetic sources in this observation (which are known to have flux densities >0.1 Jy on long baselines) actually leads to quite a large number of failed solutions (about 25%). I'm guessing this is in part because of the systematic gain amplitude error to PT, since removing PT from FRING reduces the failure rate to 18%, though this also seems surprisingly high, considering the source strengths.</div><div><br></div><div>Lastly, does self-calibration affect the determination of the MBD (and thus DELZN) for self-calibrated sources? I expect the answer is yes. If so, I should only use self-calibrated solutions to determine the gain errors, and not apply them then? </div>
