emacs is very friendly with lisp. In the earliest days of aips, I had a very elaborate lisp script to TeX-set the CHANGE.DOC</div>

file for the AIPSLetter. I eventually decided that users would not want to see such detail (and CHANGE.DOC is often not all that clear as to what was done from a user's perspective). So I changed the AIPSLetter to contain user-oriented summaries of the changes
and have since forgotten everything I used to know about lisp inside emacs.<br>

I hope this email finds you well. I was having a chat recently with<br>
someone about LISP Machines and remembered that STScI had used LISP in<br>
places, including the HST scheduler. I was curious if there had bee much<br>
LISP or LISP Machine usage at NRAO and asked about it on Slack.<br>

Pat Murphy mentioned your name and said that you were involved in an<br>
initial LISP implementation of AIPS GRIPE? I was wondering if you had<br>
any stories to tell about that, either how it came about, its usage, why<br>
LISP, etc.? This is mostly for my own curiosity, so please don't feel<br>
obligated if you don't have time.<br>
