I think I have a clearer picture of your problem, now.</div><div>An position error of 0.2 arcsec still seems pretty large to me, but you do have a few things working against you. The RFC position of the source is most likely defined at X-band, so you could be dealing with a core shift effect, although from the source morphology I would have expected the core shift to be primarily in the RA direction. At L-band, the ionosphere is definitely going to be a problem (especially in 2024 when the Sun was pretty active).</div><div>Looking at your bl194c.key file, I see that you had 6-minute dwells on J2010-2425. That is a very long dwell time at L-band during the active Sun. It is entirely possible that you have some ionospheric-driven phase errors in your data that could explain this offset. Your uv-coverage is also not great, which is what led to your elongated restoring beam. So, determining the position from imaging is going to be tricky. </div><div>Is J2010-2425 the only one of your targets showing this position offset problem? If so, you should carefully inspect the phases on J2005-2310 to look for signs of problems. You should also take a close look at the fringe fit solutions from J2005-2310 to see if they make sense. You may need to smooth the fringe fit solutions before applying them to J2010-2425.</div><div>Justin</div></div><!-- DP_MESSAGE_END -->
