<div>Hello,</div><div><br></div><div>I have some 22 GHz data I've been calibrating and I'm uncertain exactly what's going on during bandpass calibration. For future reference, I'm using VLBABPSS (and other standard VLBAUTIL procedures) but I've shortened it to just BPSS in this ticket.</div><div><br></div><div>Our observations use 3C84 for fringe finding and bandpass calibration. I go through the standard a priori calibration steps (EOPS, ACCOR, PCOR) but when I get to BPSS, all solutions are flagged, even after I've tried different reference antennas -- FD and KP.</div><div><br></div><div>I've tried global fringe fitting for the specified time range on 3C84, making an image with IMAGR, and using that as a model for BPASS, but no luck. Then I found that BPSS determines good solutions only if I set ANTENNAS=FD KP 0 with REFANT KP, but all solutions are flagged if I solve for the bandpass shape in any other combination of ANTENNAS, including if I do the entire array -- in this case, BR FD KP NL PT SC. For reference, I can confirm that good fringes are found on all baselines to the reference antenna for the BPSS specified time range, and the image out of IMAGR clearly shows 3C84, not just noise.</div><div><br></div><div>I don't know exactly what BPSS is doing under the hood, so why does it find good solutions to only 2 antennas but none of the others? What is the best way to proceed in this case? We're interested in building lightcurves so amplitude calibration is a must.</div><div><br></div><div>Thanks,</div><div>Greg</div>
