When AIPS.EXE starts up, it figures out what version it is and passes that to tasks when one does GO. Parseltongue skips that so the COMMON variable that should be set is not. 31DEC23 tries to make the plot files more useful. That is a change from 31DEC22 and so that version should not have the present difficulty. The goal is for the tasks to know the version of aips that started them. I got confused because there is also a VERSION adverb that allows you to have private versions of tasks or to try the NEW or OLD versions of the task if TST has developed a bug. That adverb is set incorrectly produces very similar errors but when doing GO or INPUTS or ??</div><div><div class="dp-signature-start">Eric Greisen</div>
