This could be a position error in one (or both) of your targets or it could be a difference in the atmosphere. Since one of your calibrators is < 1 deg away and you are observing at 5 GHz, I suspect using only that calibrator will give you the best result. Although it does look like you have 5 minutes between scans so that would be 10 minutes between the same calibrator, is that correct?</div><div><br></div><div>However, it isn't a bad idea to try ATMCA. To make this clearer, I will use C1 for the calibrator that is 0.7d away and C2 for the one that is 2.8d away. To answer the question in your first ticket, what section 4.2 is telling you to do is to determine the position shift of C2 relative to C1. To do this you phase reference C2 to C1 which should have been done if you followed the directions in section 4.1, then image C2 and see if there is an offset from the phase center. Please tell me if any of this is unclear, I am not sure how experienced you are with VLBI data reduction. This shift from the phase center is the correction that needs to be applied to the position of C2. You can correct this with CLCOR and the memo explains the inputs that you should use. ALWAYS RUN TASAV BEFORE DOING THIS SORT OF CORRECTION. CLCOR will change the SU table and it is very difficult to remove a position shift, it is easier to delete the wrong SU table an copy it from a TASAVed file. It is very easy to do this sort of shift with the wrong sign, I have done this many times.<br></div><div><br></div><div>You can measure a position shift with IMDIST once you have determined the pixel position of C2 (JMFIT or other fitting task will determine this for you), IMH (image header) will give you the pixel position of the phase center.</div><div><br></div><div>Also the memo tells you to use SPLAT not SPLIT. SPLAT does the same things as SPLIT but allows you to retain a multi-source dataset. This shouldn't effect what you are supposed to do win section 4.2 but might be a problem in further steps.<br></div><div><br></div>
