According to the help file it would seem that there are only two options - either scaling the residuals</div><div>(IMAGRPRM(5) > 0) or not.<br></div><div><br></div><div>However, I tried it with IMAGRPRM(5) = -1, 0, +1 (and specifying BMAJ,BMIN,BPA) and got three different images. In my case, IMAGRPRM(5)=0 scales the residuals by 3.03x from IMAGRPRM(5)=-1, and IMAGRPRM(1) scales them by 6.47. (I ran across this on a VLBI image, but I tried it also on VLA continuum data set and also got three different images.)<br></div><div><br></div><div>IMAGR also produces these messages:</div><div>IMAGR1 17:46:23 WARNING: new function smooths and scales residual</div><div>IMAGR1 17:46:23 to correct from fit beam to user-specified beam</div><div><br></div><div>I understand the scaling of the residuals, but I don't understand what the "smoothing" refers to, from what I can tell from the images, the residuals are scaled only.<br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div>
