In case you can give any suggestion, it will help greatly.</div><div>When an observer wants to propose a radio observation for a particular source, say, using the VLA, one needs to supply the desired rms noise sensitivity value, assuming the on-source time is being calculated based on that value.. along with the other inputs.. the desired frequency and the array configuration deciding the angular resolution and extent. How does one determine this rms noise sensitivity value if no prior information about the flux density or surface brightness of the extended source is available at the desired frequency? My previous question about comparing two images with mJy/arcsec^2 or mJy/sr was regarding this problem.</div><div><br /></div><div>Juhi</div><div><br /></div>
