 I got the following output after running the commands.<br />

VERSION is an adverb to INPUTS, GO, HELP etc.  Enter TYPE VERSION to see if it has some contents.  Then type VERSION=''<br />

I suspect that VERSION is set but I cannot make this message appear for any real task.  The code uses your VERSION value first and then the version (TST, NEW, OLD) used to start the aips.  That way it always should find something.  If dealing with the version adverbs does not help, exit aips.<br />
