A task like LPCAL can be quite complex, although the worst of it<br />is usually mathematical fitting routines.  There are chapters of<br />"Going AIPS" in $AIPS_ROOT/TEXT/PUBL called CHAPn.PS.<br />They are ver7y old but still useful.  Try CHAP1.PS and CHAP2.PS.<br />You might find that changing LPCAL itself to use your new algorithm<br />would be easier than inventing lots of new wheels.  You could name<br />it something else so as to leave LPCAL undisturbed.<br /><br />Eric Greisen
