Running TYAPL to apply the post-detector gains is simple and does not suffer<br />from all the issues you have found in the Psum, Pdif (or Psys) values.  This<br />corrects for any abrupt hardware gain changes made but does not calibrate<br />the amplitudes or weights.  The plots you have made suggest that trying to<br />do that (TYAPL not with PGN) is probably a bad idea.  Using TYAPL at high<br />frequencies works pretty well with little TYSMO or other editing but L band<br />and P band are probably a lost cause.  Note that one still has to run CALIB<br />to get the gains since we do not know the Tcals and efficiencies well enough<br />so there is not much lost.<br /><br />The CookBook Appendix L (on low band data) does not recommend TYAPL except<br />for PGN.<br /><br />Eric Greisen<br />
