the initial error messages you sent make no sense if 777 is really<br />the permissions on the data directories.<br /><br />I do not think anything would lock a user number.  But you could<br />check on say the one you initially sent.  User 499 would have files<br />ending in 0 dee vee  semicolon (or .0DV\; in computerese).  I would guess<br />that there are none since creating the MSD0DV000.0DV\; and the<br />CAD000000.0DV\; files is the first thing that happens after you enter the 499.<br /><br />Installing aips is pretty easy (and we up to version 31DEC18 by now - what version<br />do you have?)<br /><br />Eric Greisen<br />
