reported FITLD was unable to find her input file as specified<br>

in DATAIN.  Though before starting AIPS she had reassigned the environ-<br>

ment variable FITS to point at the directory her data were in, both<br>

DATAIN='FILE' and DATAIN='FITS:FILE' failed to locate her file.<br>

I was able to reproduce this behavior here.  I also found that FITLD<br>

continued to find files in the area the enviroment variable FITS used<br>

to point to, in my case /DATA/OXUS_1/FITS.  So I suggested that the<br>

user either put her files in her standard FITS area, or define a diff-<br>

erent enviroment variable altogether to point at the location of her<br>

files.  This was successful.<br>

I am pretty sure it used to be possible to reassign the FITS environ-<br>

ment variable prior to starting AIPS, but it seems currently AIPS, on<br>

startup, reassigns FITS to the standard area.  I don't know if this<br>

is by design, so I am reporting this just in case it is not.<br>
