Amusing excerpt from the InformationWeek online daily digest. I wonder
what the RFI is like from this puppy? :-)

** Maybe They'll Call The Service 'Pasture Prime'

It's safe to assume that barbed wire won't ever be the first
choice for LAN cabling, but in case we're wrong, Gigabit Ethernet
hardware vendor Wideband Corp. says it's got the back 40 covered.
Demonstrating how its hardware overcomes cable problems, the
company shows live DVD-quality video at gigabit speeds over
outmoded Category 3 LAN cabling pierced by nails, tied in knots,
and strung parallel to AC power lines. The last several feet of
the line is even replaced by eight strands of barbed wire.

Category 5E, the current first choice for Gigabit Ethernet
wiring, is two generations more advanced than Category 3 wire and
at least a century newer than barbed wire. - John Rendleman
